No! Acupuncture does not hurt! in bold. then For the majority of our patients, Acupuncture is not a painful experience. Many remark that they do not feel anything with the insertion of the needle, or they just feel a slight sensation which immediately goes away. Most people find acupuncture very relaxing and they often fall asleep during treatment to awaken feeling refreshed and relaxed. It is perfectly natural to feel fear or apprehension before your first acupuncture experience. Click here to read dozens of patient testimonials, many of which detail the fear that patients felt prior to their first treatment, followed then by total relaxation and relief!
Acupuncture is based on ancient traditional theories based off of the flow of blood and Qi (energy) through out the body. According to Chinese medical theory, illness arises when the cyclical flow of Qi in the meridians becomes unbalanced or blocked. Acupuncture regulates the flow of energy, restoring the harmonious balance of the body and returning optimal health and well-being. Our bodies are always striving to achieve balance, or homeostasis. Acupuncture helps to strengthen the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The depth of the needles depends upon the nature of the problem, the underlying anatomy of the points selected, the patient’s size, age and constitution. Generally the needles are inserted from ¼” to 1” in depth.
Patients typically experience total or partial relief of their symptoms (as well as a sense of deep relaxation) after their Acupuncture treatment. This relief may last a few days or some pain may return within a few hours. In some cases there may be no immediate relief after treatment, followed by a gradual diminishing of the symptoms over the next few days following treatment. Because our bodies are unique, our response to Acupuncture is also unique. We sincerely enjoy being the South Florida industry leaders in holistic healing. But don’t just take our word for it! Many of our patients have chosen to share their experiences before and after their acupuncture treatments.
