My problem with my sacroiliac joint which was diagnosed in Germany in late October 2014. The pain was so severe that it radiated down my legs. I received treatment in Germany however, it only solved the problem temporarily.

In mid-February 2015, I arrived at Miami International Airport from Germany and was happy to be met by a friendly airport assistant with a wheelchair. The wheelchair was necessary because I could not walk without crutches nor stand for more than two minutes without pain.

While in Miami an internet search led me to Dr. Steven Chasens and his team in Coral Gables. Within about two and a half weeks, unfortunately I did not have more time as I had to go back to Germany, Dr. Chasens gave me 10 treatments of acupuncture more or less all over my body which included the face and head. After 5 treatments I attended the PGA World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in Miami. With the help of walking sticks and a folding golf chair, I easily completed walking the 18 holes. When I left Dr. Chasens to return to Germany I did not use the walking sticks anymore and mastered airport security, immigration etc. without a problem. Here in Germany I have continued the acupuncture treatments.

Dr. Chasens obviously is an excellent doctor and master of acupuncture. His clear and calm personality gives assurance to people like myself without experience in acupuncture treatment. Five years ago I had ankle reconstruction and have tried therapy for years: MRIs, CT scans, shots, therapy, etc. After seeing a top neurologist at UM School of Medicine, he suggested acupuncture so I called Dr. Chasens’ office. The staff is amazingly professional, courteous, and accommodating. After four sessions I am pain free.
